Supply chains are the heart of America’s economic and national security. Our prosperity was built on just-in-time, globally interconnected networks that link suppliers, manufacturers, and consumers. This system worked perfectly, until it didn’t. The U.S. spent the past 30 years pushing our manufacturing ecosystems overseas, concentrating in one region, and creating a single point of failure. Responding to this challenge requires an almost unprecedented coordination and cooperation between the public and private sector. It is time to revolutionize, and modernize our supply chains, the way we operate them, the way we invest, incentive, and regulate them the way we partner. It is now an economic and national security imperative.
